TWO broken elbows

I don't have a lot of great pictures of the tragedy, but I wanted to document the event. Jeremy broke/cracked both elbows. The doctors say a cracked elbow is a common injury, but not both arms at the same time. Many people have accused me of being too violent. At church someone told Jeremy that just because he said "I do" doesn't mean he has to put up with this kind of abuse. The real story? Nothing other than church ball. I'm sure many of you could have guess that. I myself have limped away from games with a black eye, bruises, jammed fingers, scraped knees, and more. Church basketball is dangerous. Players are mean. Refs don't call anything. So really this is just the same old, same old.

Jeremy was playing in a particularly violent game 1 1/2 weeks ago. The refs weren't calling anything. Jeremy was going up for a lay-up and got hacked from behind. He fell down hard and landed on both elbows because he didn't have enough time to brace himself.

The call? Ball out of bounds on Jeremy.

The other team inbounded the ball as Jeremy struggled to get to his feet and call for a sub to come in for him.

The game got worse from there, though I don't think anyone suffered as much physically as Jeremy did. One player, on Jeremy's team, decided that if the refs weren't going to call anything than he was going to REALLY foul. He proceeded to clothesline the opposing player (who was the bishop of the other ward). The refs talked to both captains, told them to talk to their players, and that they were going to call a tighter game.

The call? The player that was fouled got to proceed with the game by inbounding the ball.

Uh, I'm not the best at seeing all fouls, but even I know that should be a technical foul.

Fortunately, this is a quick recovery, so days of brushing Jeremy's teeth, helping him dress, eating off his plate like a dog, and no driving for him are limited.

And no, Jeremy can not currently do the chicken dance. I'm sure you're all disappointed.
